I can't tell you how excited I am about this development. One of my top priorities that I articulated when I first became dean was to make Cornell Law School the center for entrepreneurship law on the East Coast and then the whole country. Spanning the main campus in Ithaca to the Cornell Tech campus on Roosevelt Island, we are helping to train the next generation of entrepreneurs and the lawyers who will serve them. I'm grateful for the work of Celia Bigoness, the Blassberg-Rice family, and especially David Reiss for joining our entrepreneurship team that will now span across New York City and Ithaca and beyond.https://lnkd.in/eaWfi6Kc

This sort of program helps businesses, certainly, but also helps students learn how to practice corporate law. It will strengthen Cornell’s position in the corporate bar. Thanks to franci blassberg, a great corporate lawyer herself, for making it possible.

I was really honored and excited to formally welcome this morning the new Cornell Law School LLM Class of 2025, who have travelled from all over the world to study law in Ithaca. They are amazing. I talked about Cornell Law’s great legacy in the field of comparative law, and I urged them to take advantage of the insights they will learn from their professors, but also from each other. In the coming years, the frontiers of global law will be reimagined by the lawyers in this room. And it all starts today!

Absolutely gutted to read the upsetting news reports that Bradley Bartlett, who graduated ten years ago from Cornell Law School, died on July 4, along with his wife, their 9-year-old child, and their 3-week old child, in a car crash in the State of Washington. Their two-year old child survived the accident and was taken to the hospital. Bartlett was a double Cornellian, with a degree in political science in 2011, followed by his law degree in 2014 from Cornell Law School, where he served as senior articles editor of the Cornell Journal of Law and Public Policy and also served on the Moot Court Board and the Mock Trial team. After graduation, Bradley worked as a local prosecutor in New Mexico, then served as an Assistant United States Attorney working on important organized crime and federal drug trafficking investigations, before moving to the Northwest to work as a deputy prosecutor in Benton County.💔 💔 💔 https://lnkd.in/ef4nkBek

My cat Eevee, helping me with my Amsterdam conference early this morning. The conference is on secondary liability for international crimes at the University of Amsterdam (https://lnkd.in/eZuF6hXF), but Eevee and I were in Ithaca. Thanks to Lucas Roorda, assistant professor of international law at Utrecht, for snapping the photo. Eevee insists on controlling name, image, and likeness.

Congratulations to the amazing Cornell Law School Class of 2024 who officially graduated today during the Cornell University Commencement on Schoellkopf Field. With gratitude to President Martha Pollack who presided over the ceremonies, it was an inspiring event. These young lawyers have bright futures ahead of them. They have already accomplished a lot, but their brightest moments are ahead of them.

I am so incredibly proud of the Cornell Law School Class of 2024 who graduated yesterday and will now become lawyers in the best sense. Some will practice law in New York State, some will practice law far away, and some will make an impact in other fields: politics, business, and the arts. What they all share is an unshakeable commitment to the highest ideals of our profession and of Cornell University - to do the greatest good. I know in my heart that because of them we have a bright future.https://lnkd.in/eYVjz4if

I’m really pleased to announce this new effort from Cornell Law School. We are making a historic increase in the support that we offer to graduates working in public interest legal careers. I identified this as a key priority when I first became dean and today we take bold steps to help our students practice law for the greatest good. And thank you to our generous supporters, past and future, who make this transformational program possible. Let’s change the world together.https://lnkd.in/eZyE97tf

Incredibly excited about the amazing conversations that will occur across campus this year, and proud that Cornell Law School and its lawyers are leading the way. Freedom of Expression is at the core of our legal system and our academic mission.

I'm really excited about the launch of the Blassberg-Rice Center for Entrepreneurship Law. Fostering entrepreneurship, and training lawyers to work with entrepreneurs, is a major focus for Cornell Law School.
